a bit of snow
We actually had a dusting of snow yesterday. As other parts of the country are deeply buried in the white stuff, we get these measly little tastes of winter. It was enough to warrant bundling up and playing outside, but not enough to actually do anything like make a snowman or sled or throw snowballs. Ellis tromped around a little. Marlowe snuggled up with Mommy. I took some pictures and then we came back inside.
Actually, to be totally honest, I was kind of grumpy about it all. I seriously did not want to go outside in the cold, to deal with all the bundling up and unbundling, and then the mess of scarves and hats and boots all over the hallway. I really wanted to curl up in bed with a book. But that's not going to happen 'til the kids are a lot older. I was really tired yesterday. But I also believe children should play in snow, no matter how paltry the amount. Once we were outside, though, it was better, and then Providence soothed my spirits in a flash of blue. I looked up and saw a small little flock of bluebirds. Some of my favorite birds. They flitted through the branches so quickly it was hard to get a good picture, but I did my best. They made me very happy.

Such a beautiful little bird!
Such a beautiful little bird! I know how you feel. I hate getting all the gear on and getting out of my cozy house, but I firmly believe in it and am always glad later. :)
We are in the same boat
We are in the same boat today. It is just enough snow to look pretty coming down but that is about it. I actually wish we would get a good snow and the kids could go out and play.
I can't believe you saw a
I can't believe you saw a flock of bluebirds in January! They used to go south for winter. I wonder what they are finding to eat! The photos are so lovely. Glad you braved the cold!
