I'm cooking Thanksgiving Dinner next week. It'll be a small gathering: us, my brothers, brother's GF, and hopefully a friend or two. But our apartment is pretty small, so it'll probably be just right. I went to signing class this morning and relearned the sign for "thanksgiving" and "pilgrim," which I have to learn every year, because I don't practice those signs regularly, you know. Then I went to Trader Joe's for grocery shopping and got *drumroll* The Turkey!!!! A nice 17lb, already-brined fresh turkey!! YAY! I think it's the first time I've ever bought a turkey. I got a nice big one, so we can have leftovers. We are on our to tryptophan heaven. I'm very excited about Turkey Lurkey hanging out in the downstairs fridge. Now off to peruse Martha.

Okay, if I can be REALLY nosey, which brother has a GF?? I mean, does Nick have a GF? Because Adam would definitely want to know!!
Sam, sorry. A cool girl he goes to college with.
Don't know if you're committed to Martha, but just wanted to pass along that Ry's made some amazing turkeys by following Alton's recommendations here (http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/good-eats-roast-turkey-re... ).
Though next time he does it I'm going to quickly clean the drippings out of the pan after the stint on 500 degrees because by the end you end up with just charred drippings. I'm thinking if I cleaned the pan up after 500, it'd have enough time to make some yummy non-charred drippings for gravy while it cooks at 350. Anyway, just being a busybody pest. :)
Thanks for the link! I'm not committed to any one particular recipe. Martha is just the first place to look.
